Jennie Cordelia Grimsley passed away April 3, 2013 in Grass Valley with her loving daughter, Beverlee and granddaughter, Rose by her side. She was 88.
A celebration of life and scattering of ashes will be June 8 at Blue Jay/Lake Arrowhead, Calif.
Jennie was born May 11, 1924 in Maes, M.M. to Ida Griego and Alfred Wright. She attended school at Fromberg High School in Fromberg, Mont. Right after graduating from High School, Jennie left Mont. for Calif. She met the love of her life, Homer "Herb" Barton Grimsley while renting a room in her future Mother-in-law's house. Six weeks later, they were married on July 30, 1944 in Inglewood, Calif. She worked in Los Angeles as a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII and was a homemaker.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, decorating, music, singing and dancing.
She is survived by her daughters Shirlee Grimsley of Las Vegas, Nev., Beverlee Grimsley Carter of Grass Valley, Calif.; sons, Ronald Grimsley (Rosemary) of Norwich, Conn. and Jeffrey Grimsley (Michelle) of Yorba Linda, Calif.; grandsons, Patrick Carter (Kwan) of Koh Samui, Thailand, Cameron Grimsley of Los Angeles, Calif. and Blake Grimsley of Yorba Linda, Calif.; granddaughters, Diedre Turner (Jefferson) of St. Pete's Beach, Fla. and Rose Jones of Grass Valley, Calif.; great granddaughters, Alexys Carter of Alhambra, Calif., Kataria Carter of Koh Samui, Thailand; great grandsons, Tyler Turner of St. Pete's Beach, Fla. and Zachary Carter of Koh Samui, Thailand.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Randi Grimsley (age 2); sons-in-law, Ernie Carter and Ralph Jones and her spouse of 55 years, Homer "Herb" Grimsley.
We would like to thank Quail Ridge, Brunswick Village and Golden Empire for their compassion when caring for our mom. We will always miss her sweet smile. She was truly a lady!
