James Mahlon Holmes

James Mahlon Holmes 82, died March 17, 2013 of a Heart Attack.

James was born on March 22, 1930 in Pensacola, Florida. He was the oldest Son of James Mason Holmes, York, SC. and Eunice B. Holmes, House Springs, MO. James proudly served two Tours of duty in the U.S. Navy as a Radar Sonar Specialist and participated in heavy combat duty on the Minesweeper-Destroyer's USS Doyle (DD-494/DMS-34 and USS Spangler during the Korean War.

James was Active in a variety of professions from Marketing and Sales, Industrial machine operation, Truck and Tractor Driver-Operator, Electro Mechanical work, and the Steel, Confectionary and Paint production Industries. Having been an aggressive outdoor enthusiast for most of his life, he was known for his love of hiking, hunting, fishing, Gardening, Boating and Environmental and Conservation concerns. James will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Holmes is survived by two sons, James M. Holmes Jr. And Russell W. Holmes, also two Stepsons, Loren T. Andregg of Grass Valley, and Rickey Bray of Florida. Also two brothers: Rodney Keith Holmes of Oregon, and Aubrey C. Holmes of California

Mr. Holmes was preceded in death by his sister, Priscilla Anne Hyde of NJ and his brother, Rev. Calvin William Holmes of Oregon.

He leaves behind Sister-in-laws and Daughter-in-Laws, many Cousins, Nephews, Nieces, four Grandchildren, and one Great-Grandchild, along with many loving friends in the local community.

Arrangements are under the care of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary Grass Valley, Ca.
