Dorris Jennette Dunlop died on Aug. 19, 2013, at Banner Crest Care Home in Nevada City, Calif. She was 85.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Unity in the Gold Country Church, 180 Cambridge Ct., Grass Valley, Calif., 530-274-2463.
Dorris was born in Los Angeles, Calif. as the second of two children to Grover and Louise Hendricks. Her brother, Tom, passed away at the age of 32.
Dorris was educated and graduated in Los Angeles and went on to get her dream job as an airline stewardess for TWA. After several years of flying, circulation problems forced her to leave the airline.
She married Gordon Dunlop shortly after; they were together for 34 years. They had three children starting with Russell in 1958, Scott in 1959 and Dana in 1961. Her beloved husband, Gordon, passed away in 1990, and she never found another to replace him.
She moved to Grass Valley in 1998 and joined Unity Church where she continued her lifetime of service to her fellow human beings. She had a huge heart and always tried to make everyone her friend. The majority of the time, she succeeded and leaves behind a vast circle of friends to carry on her memory. She will be missed but always remembered.
She is survived by her three children and grandchildren, Jalayna Kraemer, 27, and Jessica Kraemer Thomas, 22.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Unity in the Gold Country Church, 180 Cambridge Ct., Grass Valley, Calif.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
