Doris “Marie” Dickson
January 11, 2013
Doris "Marie" Dickson, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, in the arms of her loving husband Bill. She was 85.
They had been married 41 years.
Born June 4, 1927 in New York, the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Jones of San Francisco. Marie married Bill on Nov. 4, 1971 in Lafayette, Calif.
Marie was always young at heart. Her enthusiasm and loving spirit affected all who had the good fortune to know her.
She was very active and was always supportive of her husband's musical endeavors. She was truly special and we are grateful that she touched our lives with her wonderful spirit, sweetness and spunk. We shall always miss her.
As a young woman, she had a career in public relations and as a buyer for the Emporium in San Francisco. Marie was involved in the production of the wonderful Christmas celebration on the rooftop of the "Big E," which was the logo that she helped create. She also performed in the ice skating show, as Jiminey Christmas.
Doris is survived by her loving husband Bill, brother, Bob and Sandy Jones; loving daughters, Deborah and Bonnie of Concord; daughter in law, Ginny Callahan of New Mexico; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Val Beatriz of Coloma; loving grandmother to Kelly Rose, Jessica and Michael Walenter, and Shawn Callahan and GiGi to Michael and Brandon Walenter.
"Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting. The soul that rises in us, our life star has had elsewhere its setting and cometh, from afar. Not in entire forgetfulness and not in utter nakedness. But trailing clouds of glory do we come from God who is our home." — William Wordsworth.
The family will hold a celebration of life in the spring 2013.
