Debra Lynn Rasmussen, 60, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at her home in Nevada City. Born in Oakland in 1952, she moved to Nevada County in 1965.
Graduating from Nevada Union High School in 1971, she attended some college classes at the local community college. Locally, she was employed at the Bank of America and Farmers Insurance before becoming co-owner in the Nevada County Athletic Club where she worked until health restrictions forced her to work from home.
Debbie met Norman Rasmussen in 1976 and they married in 1979. Having a blended family consisting of four boys, they enjoyed a happy relationship for 37 years.
While her children were in school, Debbie was actively involved in school activities. Later, as a business owner, her involvement revolved around community activities and fundraisers. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed meeting people and forming relationships.
Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Hudson. She is survived by her husband, Norman; sons, Eric, Shawn, Kevin and Brad; grandchildren, Kayla, Konner, Kennedi, Owen, Joseph, Taya; mother, Diane; sisters, Terry and Laura; brother, Donald; nieces, Cheryl, Laura and Amy and nephews, Michael, Cory, Jesse and Brad.
A celebration of life is scheduled on September 28, 2013 at the hotel in the town of Washington at 11:00 a.m. with a pot luck following until 2 p.m. All who cared for Debbie and her family are welcome to attend. All interested in bringing food, contact L.HudsonMacdonald@gmail.com.
