Blaine Richard Ellis passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014, at his home in Heather Glenn. He was 93.
A celebration of life will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sat., April 5, 2014, at his residence located in Weimar, Calif.
Blaine was born on Sept. 1, 1920, in Fresno, Calif., and attended Fresno State.
He was in the US Navy and served in the Pacific during World War II.
Blaine was also a lifetime member of the VFW, the American Legion, the Navy League, and the Elks Club. He was a lifetime member and past President of the Colfax Lions Club.
He enjoyed his time at the family cabin in Huntington Lake where he fished, hiked, and backpacked as often as possible. His favorite moments were spending time with his family and his dog, Jelma.
Blaine is survived by his daughter, Sandy (Rob) Best of Lake of the Pines and his son, Jim (Johnene) Ellis of Davenport, Fla.; grandsons Jim Fortune of Auburn and Nick Best of Grass Valley; granddaughters Kelly (David) Rhoden of Grass Valley and Taryn (Dan) Desmond of Oakland; six great-grandchildren; sister Donna Steele; brother Eugene Jewett of Fresno; seven nieces and nephews' and cousin Margaret Caulkins of San Mateo.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Velma Ellis who passed away in December 2000; parents Jasper Ellis and Lisa Jewett.
