Betty Evelyn Ashe
June 24, 2013
Betty Evelyn Ashe, known as “Sugar,” passed away peacefully on June 7, 2013, at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto with her daughter by her side. She was a spirited 84.
The family thanks the doctors and staff for their caring and endless efforts.
Many neighborhood children loved to stop at Sugar’s for a snack and drink while walking home from school.
Betty is survived by her husband, Lowell Ashe; daughter, Bobbie Boge; and son, Woody Keller. She was blessed with grandsons David and Brian Boge; granddaughter, Fawn Shilts; great-grandsons Zachary Boge and Zachary Shilts.
Her family and friends always enjoyed her impromptu dinners, scrumptious desserts and welcoming smile. She and her husband of 47 years motor-homed to Alaska for 24 years where they fished for salmon and halibut. She was known for her meticulous detail in trimming, smoking and canning salmon. Any acquaintance she met always became a lasting friend who could count on her when in need. She will be missed by all.
