Beryl Von Weien

Beryl Von Weien passed away on Dec. 3, 2012 in Grass Valley, Calif.

There will be no funeral at the request of the deceased and contributions may be made to your favorite charity or to Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Grass Valley where she was a member.

She was born in Otisco, Minn., on Nov. 25, 1917, to Andrew and Elsie Anderson.

Mrs. Von Weien graduated from Waseca High School in Minnesota in 1936. She then graduated from Navae Nursing School in Alberta Lea, Minn., in 1939 with a registered nursing degree. She was a second lieutenant nurse in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. She worked for the American Lung Association in New York City in public health nursing until her marriage to Capt. Hans Von Weien (U.S. Navy Military Sea Transportation) in March 1955.

He preceded her in death in April 1985. They lived in Alameda, Calif, until 1974 when they became residents of Alta Sierra in Grass Valley. Beryl was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, The Bellview Club of Oakland, The Nevada County Duplicate Bridge Club of Grass Valley, and the Encinal Yacht Club of Alameda.

She is survived by her sister, Louella Henry, of Spokane Valley, Wash.; a brother, Andrew Anderson and wife, Lois, of Maplewood, Minn.; niece, Patty Grossman of Spokane, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews in Minnesota.

Arrangements are under the care of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary in Grass Valley.
