Services were Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at Truckee Meadows Memorial Chapel, 616 S. Wells Ave., Reno, Nev. A celebration of life will be held in Watsonville in the spring of 2014. The date is still to be determined.
Robert was born in Watsonville, Calif., on March 30, 1947. He was raised in Watsonville and went on to work in the agricultural field from 8 years old until his teens. He met his wife, then his girlfriend, while working at the State Theatre.
He graduated from Watsonville High School in 1966 and was drafted into the United States Army, to serve in the conflict in Vietnam. Upon his arrival home, Robert worked for a few years as a custodian at Rolling Hills Middle School. He then began his career as a cement finisher.
In December of 1980, he moved his family to The Gold Country, Grass Valley, Calif. There he owned and operated Florez Concrete Construction for 15 years. Finally, he moved with his wife to Reno in 1995, where he finished out his career as a cement finisher. He loved to cook and bake. He was an avid collector of Hot Wheels. He loved to entertain family and extend himself to them whenever there was a need. He devoted his time and love to his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Florez, and brother, Henry Florez.
Robert is survived by; his wife Angie Florez; children Robert Florez Jr. and spouse Akeesa Abbott-Florez, Isaac Florez and spouse Jennifer Miller and Zachary Florez; and grandchildren Ashley, Logan and Miranda.
