Julie Eason

Julie Anne Patterson Eason died of natural causes at home in Grass Valley Oct. 22, 2013. She was 59.

A celebration of her life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the First Baptist Church of Nevada City, 300 Main St. All friends are invited.

Julie was born Oct. 29, 1953, to Julian “Jim” and Betty Patterson at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif. The family moved to Grass Valley when Julie was 11 years old. She attended Hennessy School and Nevada Union High School, class of 1971. She went on to graduate from Saint Luke’s School of Nursing in 1975. She worked as a nurse for more than 35 years, including many years with the V.N.A. Julie most recently worked at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital.

Julie was an avid reader and “social director” for the family. She greatly enjoyed putting her creativeness to use, when giving gifts and setting the stage for family gatherings. Above all, she loved her grandchildren and spent as much time as possible with them. In more recent years, she assisted her parents on their travels. She loved Hawaii and was already planning another trip there. Her annual trip to Sea Ranch was an event she greatly anticipated. Her laughter and stories will be missed by all.

Julie is survived by her two sons, Spencer Eason (Nicole) and grandchildren Nerissa and Ryder and Marshall Eason (Maureen) and grandson Henry; parents Jim and Betty Patterson; sister Nancy Patterson and nephew Chad Foley, both recently of Anchorage, Ala.; brother Brad Patterson (Susie) and nieces Emma and Claire; uncles George (Peggy) Hubert and Paul (Elaine) Hubert and aunt Helen Walker and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Joan; grandparents George and Selma Hubert and Reese and Mildred Patterson; aunts Elsie Long and Norma Cullins; and uncle Glen Walker.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
