Ronalie Landon

Ronalie Joy Landon passed away in her Wolf Road, Grass Valley, home Oct. 6, 2013. She was 85.

The family will be hosting a celebration of life for Ronalie at noon Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Landon Ranch for family and close friends.

Ronalie Joy Landon was born Aug. 13, 1928, in Visalia, Calif.

Ronalie was a beautiful, amazing woman. She was a 4H leader and participated in activities in her church and at Mount St. Mary’s Academy. Ronalie helped her husband run a dairy and cattle ranch on Wolf Road for more than 50 years. She was a quilter, gardener and seamstress. Hobbies included stained glass and miniature doll houses. She had a knack for building rock walls both here, at her ranch and at their summer home in Connecticut. Ronalie supported her community by counting votes at the Higgins corner Elections Office for many years. She was a devoted humanitarian who supported numerous organizations promoting the humane treatment of animals. She loved to take cruises with her husband and family members when possible. She was a loving wife, compassionate mother and everyone’s friend. There are so many more things Ronalie was to her family and friends; and therefore, she will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Howland Russell Landon, whom she was married to for 65 wonderful years. Ronalie was a loving mother of five children; three sons, Christopher Howland Landon, Jonathan Michael Landon, Nathaniel Russell Landon; and two daughters, Molly Chandler Landon and Courtney Ronalie Landon-Thompson. Ronalie was also blessed with 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charles Roy Smith and Helen Joy Smith; and her youngest son, Nathaniel Russell Landon.

Instead of sending flowers, anyone wishing, please send a donation to Hospice in Ronalie’s name.
