Kristina passed away on September 5, 2013 after a five year battle with cancer. She had been given just two months to live in November 2012 but she continued her fight for life until her final breath.
Kristina was born in Winnemucca, Nevada on July 8, 1966 to Maria Del Carmen Black and James Oliver Black. She moved with her parents to Lansdale,
Pennsylvania in June 1967 and lived there until 1973. Her father accepted an overseas assignment to Tehran Iran that year and Kristina attended
the Tehran American School until the Iranian Revolution in 1979. She moved with her father and siblings to Fremont, Ca. that same year and attended Robertson Jr. High and Irvington High School. During her life overseas in Tehran Kristina learned quite a lot of the local Farsi language while playing with her Iranian friends. The four members of the Black family ate out quite often. As other teen age kids, Kristina loved eating Pizza at the many Tehran Pizza parlors. Kristina learned how to ski on the slopes of the Alborz Mountains near Tehran. During the summer of 1976 she toured Spain and in 1977 it was off to Bangkok, Thailand for a wonderful tour and stay in that country. Kristina loved to listen to
music, especially the songs of the 70’s. Following her schooling, Kristina being the adventurer and independent person she was, relocated to the San Diego area where she lived until her death.
Kristina loved animals, especially cats and always had a cat or two in her home. The cats went many places with Kristina in her convertible with the top rolled down. Some of her friends referred to Kristina as the Cat Lady.
As a beautiful young lady Kristina fell in love with a handsome Mexican admirer, Julian Alonso, and they had two lovely daughters, Jazmine Desiree born in 1996, and Selena Raquel who arrived in 1999. Kristina dearly loved her two girls who now live with their father and grandmother in Southern Mexico.
Kristina enjoyed conversing with and being around her many San Diego friends, but she especially enjoyed riding in that convertible near the beach with the warm ocean breeze blowing in her hair. Kristina could light up a room with her warm smile and her always upbeat personality. Those who knew Kristina will miss that special friendly connection she had with them. She will be dearly missed by her children, her parents, her brother, and sisters.
Kristina is survived by two loving daughters, Jazmine and Selena, her sister Nadine Stinger of Oakland, Ca., brother James Black of Sacramento, her half sister Jodean Ator of Frankfurt,Gy, her mother Maria Dicicco and step-father Angelo Dicicco, of West Conshohocken, Pa. and her father, James Black and step-mother Martha Black of Penn Valley, Ca.
Kristina was under the care of Hospice at the time of her death. She requested that those who knew her to please make a small donation to their local Hospice. A Celebration of Life will be held later.
