Evelyn Geckler

Evelyn Hedi Geckler unexpectedly passed away on July 22, 2013. She was 66.

Please join Evelyn’s family and friends in celebrating her life at noon on Sept. 14, 2013, at the clubhouse in Lake Of The Pines.

Evelyn was born on May, 4 1947, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Bert and Hildegard Zehl. At the age of 14, she met her beloved Otto, who would soon become her husband.

At 17 years old, Evelyn and Otto moved to America (Redwood City, Calif.) for adventure and to raise their family and live the American dream. They soon moved to beautiful Lake Tahoe, where they spent many happy years, and then in 1979 they settled into Lake Of The Pines in Auburn, Calif.

It was there that Evelyn started her long and successful career in real estate, helping so many to find the place of their dreams, while earning respect from her colleagues.

Evelyn was a vivacious and beautiful woman who was kind to everyone she encountered. She had an innate ability to see the best in people, friends and strangers alike. Unbeknownst to her, she made everyone feel special.

After Otto passed away, Evelyn endured many physical trials and tribulations but always persevered with elegance and grace.

She is survived by son Andy; daughter Stefanie; daughters-in-law Michelle and Dana; sisters Linda and Nancy; brothers John and Frank; and grandchildren Autumn and Drew. Evelyn also has numerous family members in Germany that are feeling the loss of their precious “Elfi.”

Evelyn is preceded in death by Otto, her husband of 47 years, and her mother and father.

Her passing is a great loss to so many and she will be sorely missed. She is once again with her beloved Otto and together they will shine in the heavens, endlessly dancing across the sky.

Finally, it was Evelyn’s final wish to be a donor of life, so as her last act of kindness with her physical body, Evelyn has made many donations so that others may thrive. In lieu of flowers, please continue her charitable work and make a contribution to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the care of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
