Steven Stuckey

Steven Dale Stuckey of Grass Valley, Calif., passed away while working on his property in Cobb, Calif. near Clear Lake in Lake County on July 10, 2013. He was 52.

A private family viewing was held at Jones & Lewis Clear Lake Memorial Chapel in Lower Lake, Calif., on July 12, 2013, and a private family memorial service will be July 28, 2013, for family and friends in Grass Valley, Calif.

Born in Walnut Creek, Calif., and raised in Antioch, Steven attended school, graduated from Antioch Senior High School, Los Medanos College and Diablo Valley College and became a journeyman machinist, his grandfather’s trade. He started his career at PG&E, following in his father’s footsteps, and worked at the Antioch Steam Electric Power Plant in Contra Costa County and The Geysers Geothermal Power Plant in Lake County. An accomplished machinist, Steven continued his career at Cal-Sierra Development Inc., machining parts for Gold Dredge 17 on the Yuba River near Marysville, Calif., which pulled gold from the Yuba Goldfields.

Steven was passionate and strived for excellence in his work. He had a private machine shop in Grass Valley, Calif., where he continued his work. His hobbies included machining parts for tractor, truck and auto restoration; creating machined gifts for his family and friends; and last, but not least, making cannons. His cannons were works of art and received awards at the local Nevada County Fair.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kelly Stuckey; sons Nicolas Stuckey and Allan Stuckey; his loving parents, Stanley and Shirley Stuckey; sisters Sandy Hershey and Susan Stuckey; nephew, Chandler Van Heeringen; and brother, Stuart Stuckey.

He will be ever present in our lives and will be sorely missed.

Donations to the American Heart Association and/or American Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
