Edyth Thompson

There will be a celebration of life potluck at 12 p.m., July 7, 2013, at Memorial Park.

Edyth Ruth Thompson (Mary Ann) was born Feb. 14, 1943, in Sheridan, Wyo., to Raymond Heth and May Whaples. She lived in Hardin, Mont., for the first part of her life and then moved to San Diego where she met her lifelong love, Robert Thompson of Grass Valley. They were married Jan. 12, 1959, in El Cajon, Calif. In 54 years of marriage, they raised six children: Jodie Terronez, Sandi Chilton, Diana Leach, Donald Thompson, Raymond Thompson and Robert Thompson Jr., all of Grass Valley. They had 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, with three more due this year.

She worked as a school bus driver for 18 years and then worked at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital for 23 years until she got ill. She enjoyed playing softball, hunting, fishing and bowling. She is the only woman in Nevada County to bowl a perfect game of 300 points. She was inducted into The Bowlers Hall of Fame in Missouri. In her later years, she enjoyed her family and most of all, her grandchildren. She enjoyed going to their sporting events and supported them in all they did. When she was unable to get out, she would sit and watch them play in her yard. Her family was her life. She was dearly loved by all who knew her. The angels took her while she was peacefully sleeping in her home. She will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and May Heth; daughter, Sandie Chilton; and grandson, Larry Terronez, Jr. (whom she shared a birthday with and also left us a month ago). Everyone called her mom or Grandma Grape, and that will continue forever. She had no enemies. She gave only love and received only love in return. Go with God, dearest lady.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the family c/o Robert Thompson, 12536 La Barr Meadows Road, Grass Valley, Calif. 95949.

Arrangements made in the care of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
