Don was born to Norman Drageset and Barbara Flynn on July 22, 1940, in Pasadena, Calif.
He is survived by sons Steven Drageset, Scott Drageset, Anders Drageset and his wife Lisa Drageset, and Christopher Kirkpatrick; and eight grandchildren.
Don bought John’s Bicycle Shop in Pasadena from his father in 1957, who bought it from his grandfather, Johann “John.” The shop was established by John in 1908. At one time it was one of the largest bicycle shops in the world. While there, Don headed up the Pasadena Athletic Association, which produced some of the top riders of the time. In 1980 Don sold the business and moved to Grass Valley. In the mid 1980s, Don bought into a partnership in the Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Shop, one of the oldest bicycle shops in Northern California. Here, Don took over the position of race coordinator for the Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Race, known now as the Nevada City Classic, one of the oldest yet toughest road races in the country
Don was a kind and loving man who touched the lives of many and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
