Wilma Clapham passed away peacefully on May 4, 2013, in Sonora, Calif. She was surrounded by the love of family and friends.
A service will be held 1 p.m., June 1, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church, 72 Kensington Road, San Anselmo, Calif
Wilma was born July 26, 1922, to Elmo and Fern (Rutledge) Carson. Her childhood was spent in Oklahoma and Kansas. She moved to California where she worked as an administrative assistant for Jergens, Inc. In 1942 she met and married Robert Clapham, and they began an amazing 62-year journey.
With intelligence, organization, strength, wit and compassion she served the communities she invested in as she shared a ministry with her husband; worked for businesses and in special education; and most proudly was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. She nurtured and kept the friends she made in all the communities she lived in.
Wilma brought to this world something very special: her enthusiasm for life and a truly giving heart that often made a difference in people’s lives. Bob and Wilma adopted those who needed a family, including their children and the many who still consider them their family.
Wilma drew strength from her Christian faith and love from her devoted husband. She carried herself with elegance and grace and enjoyed music arts, and entertaining. Most importantly, Wilma always strove to be happy and to share that joy with others. Her spirit and presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
