Constance Gail Porter of Davis, Calif., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. She was 75.
We are holding a celebration of Connie’s life from 11a.m. to 4p.m., Sunday, June 2, at Englund Farms, 21290 County Road 97, Woodland, Calif.
Connie was the recipient of an extremely successful heart transplant in June of 2006. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer in September of 2012, which just recently returned. We feel extremely blessed to have had seven extra memory-filled years with her.
Connie was born in Crookston, Minn., on June 28, 1937. She attended the Kaiser School of Nursing in Los Angeles and worked as a registered nurse for Kaiser Permanente. Connie also worked in some smaller clinics in her later years until she retired in her 60s. When residing in Half Moon Bay, she and her husband, Craig Porter, owned and ran the Half Moon Bay Feed and Fuel until 1986 when they retired and relocated to Auburn, Calif. She moved to Davis in October of 2005 after Craig passed away. She had a great seven years and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog Skippy.
Connie is survived by daughters Jennifer Short and Pam Englund; Barry Short; Sandyn and Ryan Connolly; Paula Short; Becky Short; Kevin Englund; sisters Bunny Pringle and Barbie Morton; and other family and friends.
Connie had a strong soft spot for animals and children.
