Robert Glenn Wells, aka “Coffee Bob,” passed away peacefully at home April 20, surrounded by loved ones.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at The Church of Christ, 670 Whiting St. in Grass Valley.
Bob was born and raised in Southern California.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1963 and was stationed in Georgia. He fought in the Vietnam War in the Bay of Tonkin and was honorably discharged in 1966.
Bob spent his early career as a long-haul trucker as well as a heavy-equipment operator. He had a deep love of animals and was an accomplished horseman.
He recalled many fond memories of hunting with his son and his much-loved coonhounds. He moved up to this area with his son and worked for the county of Nevada in the Transportation Department.
He retired from the county and enjoyed his freedom by riding his motorcycles and taking road trips or doing simple things like sitting around Old Town for breakfast and coffee. He relaxed by doing yard and tractor work, working on his cars or just spending quality time with friends.
He is survived by his sister, Louis, and her husband, Bill Mills; nieces Rebecca Mosbarger and Jennifer Lawrence; and their spouses.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Margaret and Kenneth Wells, and his beloved son, Joshua Wayne Wells.
In lieu of flowers, Bob asked that any donations be made to Sammy’s Friends to help the animals he loved so much.
