Tari Lee VanDeRostyne passed away in Grass Valley, Calif., March 2, 2013. She was 56.
In accordance with Tari’s wishes, her body was donated to further medical science, and her ashes will be scattered by family at a private memorial service.
Tari was born to William Joseph Ellison II of Milwaukee and Marguerite Baldwin Ellison of Sioux City, Iowa, Feb. 4, 1957, in Van Nuys, Calif. She worked as a waitress, aircraft construction worker, street maintenance worker and U.S. Postal Service worker and found her calling working for the California Department of Parks and Recreation.
She was married for 27 years to Charles “Dutch” VanDeRostyne of Burbank, Calif. Tari moved to Nevada County in 1989 and thrived here, tending her many beloved horses, caring for local natural resources and enjoying the scenic beauty of the lakes, rivers and woods.
Tari is survived by siblings Karen Virgili of Penn Valley, Calif., Jim Ellison of Rough and Ready, Calif., and Suzanne Ellison of Nevada City, Calif.,; son Bryan and daughter-in-law, Mara of Carmichael, Calif.; nephews Tony Virgili of Penn Valley and John Perrino of Roseville, Calif.; and brother-in-law Gregg Lee of Rough and Ready.
She was predeceased by husband Charles; parents William and Marguerite Ellison; and brother William Joseph Ellison III.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grass Valley Hospice of the Foothills in lieu of flowers.
