Cheryl Ann (Rist) Davis, 58, of Manor, Texas, passed away Thursday evening, Feb. 21, 2013.
A graveside funeral service and final resting place for Cheryl will be conducted at the Indian Springs Cemetery in Penn Valley, Calif., 17542 Indian Springs Road, at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013. A prior funeral service was conducted at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Austin, Texas, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013. Arrangements and care were entrusted to the Elgin Funeral Home.
She was born June 10, 1954, to Clyde Rist Jr. and Bonnie Mae Beck in Columbus, Ohio. Cheryl lived in Concord, Calif., in her youth and then in Camptonville, Calif., through her teenage years. Cheryl graduated from Nevada Union High School in 1972 and went on to receive two AA degrees from Yuba College. She later attended the University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music and earned a BA in elementary education from National Louis University.
In 1990, she married the love of her life, Wayne J. Davis, and together they lived in Evanston, Ill., and Lafayette, Calif., before relocating to Manor, Texas, in 2006. Cheryl worked hard her whole life; having three distinguished careers, as a Beautician in Yuba City, Calif., then a second career as an employment specialist for the LDS Social Services in Sacramento, Calif., and finally teaching elementary and middle school in Waukegan, Ill., and in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Wayne J. Davis; one daughter, Jennifer Ann Davis; four grandchildren; three brothers, Paul Edward Rist, Robert William Rist and Clyde James Rist; one sister, Mary Jane Rist; and many nephews and great-nieces.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her mother and father and her nephew, Levi William Rist.
Arrangements and care are entrusted to Chapel of the Angels Funeral Home in Grass Valley, Calif.
