Flora Dolinar died March 2, 2013 in Grass Valley. She was 85.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Flora Marie Dolinar will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 235 Chapel St., Grass Valley. Father Orpilla will officiate.
A short graveside service will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery on West Main St. in Grass Valley and a reception will then follow at St. Patrick’s Church Hall.
Flora was born Sept. 30, 1927, in San Francisco, Calif., to Blas and Eugenia Salaverria. She attended local schools in the area of Winters, Calif., graduating from Winters High School in 1946.
She married Louis Dolinar on Sept. 10, 1950, in Sacramento. They were the owners of the Golden State Market from 1948-1959, and of the Pick ‘N’ Pan Market in Grass Valley from 1960-1987.
She was a homemaker and worked part-time both at the family businesses as well as a wedding cake decorator for numerous special celebrations for over 30 years.
Flora was a longtime member of the auxiliary for the Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital and the Nevada County Travel Club. She enjoyed a wide range of arts and crafts, gardening around her home and traveling and camping with her family in their RV in the High Sierras and coastal mountains.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kathy Dolinar of Ventura; son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Dee Dolinar of Evanston, Wyo.; sister-n-laws, Millie Dolinar of Sacramento and Josephine Dolinar Matteucci of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; grandchildren, Ryan and Kevin Dolinar of Ventura; and Justin and Shelley Dolinar of Evanston, Wyo.
Flora was predeceased by her beloved husband, Louis Dolinar, in 2006 and her sisters, Helena Salaverria and Clara Perkins.
