Arthur Clarke

Arthur Wright Clarke passed away on Feb. 8, 2013. He was 96.

A celebration of life is planned for late April. Arrangement information will be provided to friends and family.

Art was born April 30, 1916, in Evanston, Ill., and raised in San Francisco, Calif.

Art was a captain in the U.S. Army Infantry in World War II, fought in the epic Battle of the Bulge and received a Bronze Star with three clusters for his heroic service. After the war, he returned to work for the American Can Company in Oakland, Calif., rising to the level of assistant plant manager before retiring in 1976. After retiring, he and Lillian moved to Nevada City where they lived happily enjoying the company of their many friends for the remainder of their lives.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Arthur’s friends and caregivers, Erin Burke and Scott Telles, for always caring for Art like family. Also a sincere thanks to all of the friends and neighbors that assisted him on multiple occasions.

Art is survived by his sons, Gary, and wife Monica of Las Vegas, Nev,, James and wife Mary of Gig Harbor, Wash.; daughter, Diane Dutcher and husband Russ of Old Greeenwich, Conn.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and his twin brother, William of Rohnert Park, Calif., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Lillian.
