Penn Valley man arrested on meth charges

County narcotics detectives arrested a Penn Valley man Thursday morning on a variety of drug charges after serving a search warrant on his Indian Springs Road ranch.

Members of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force went to the 170-acre property in the 17000 block at about 8:30 a.m. because they suspected Anthony Hall Sedgwick, 49, of selling methamphetamine, said Sgt. Guy Selleck.

Although there are several residences on the parcel, Sedgwick’s was the only target, Selleck said.

Deputies searched the residence and allegedly located several baggies of suspected meth on the dining room table. The total amount was about 2 ounces with an estimated street value of $1,600, Selleck said. They also allegedly located scales and packaging on the table, indicating drug sales.

Sedgwick, who allegedly was under the influence, admitted to using meth, Selleck said.

While being detained and in handcuffs, Sedgwick allegedly tried to flee but was quickly apprehended.

He was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, possession for sale, being under the influence of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. He was booked into county jail in lieu of $36,750 bail.
