Michael Devin Skeahan, a sixth generation native of Nevada County, passed away Dec. 11, 2012 at his mother’s home in Sacramento, Calif. He was 22.
A graveside celebration of life for Michael will be held at 3 p.m. Jan. 11, 2013 at Forest View Cemetery on Red Dog Road where he will be laid to rest alongside his brother Matt. Jeff Parker will officiate. An informal gathering and dinner will be held after the service at Friar Tuck’s Restaurant, 111 North Pine St., Nevada City, Calif,
Michael was born August 9, 1990. As a child he attended Nevada City Elementary, Gold Run and Deer Creek School before moving to the Sacramento area. He attended Folsom Lake College and studied Norwegian, hoping to visit there someday. He lived in Nevada City with his dad, who was teaching him welding. Michael loved snowboarding, computers, video games, people and animals including his cat, Deuce and his new puppy, Asa (pronouced Usa).
He is survived by his parents, Greg and Rosie Skeahan and mom, Bonny Jean Hurley; godparents, Jeff and Mary Jane Parker; godfather, Scott Quist; step sisters, Monique Horyza and Jacqueline Dodson; grandmother, Patty Skeahan.
Other family members include Patrick, Barbara, Jim and Chris Hurley; Mickey, Penny, Jonathon, Christopher, and Jordan Hurley; Jennifer, Robert and Cayden Coughlin; Don, Dorothy (Hurley), Dode, and Anthony McDermott; Mikell, Larry Alicia, Laticia, Raquel and Larry Leyba; Kathleen (Hurley), Patrick, Katie, Veronica Frazier, Janis and Lisa Skeahan, Jen and Cayden Bobzien, Dick and Arlene Rice, Naomi Gau, Jim and Janice Sheldon and numerous other relatives.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, Jack and Marilyn Skeahan; grandparents, Mary Ellen and Edward J. Hurley; and his brother, Matthew Edward Skeahan.
