Wilbur Lindgren

Wilbur (Bill) Lindgren peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family, wife Nancy, daughter Stacey and son Chris on December 2, 2012. He was 82.

We miss him dearly and he will remain in our hearts and at our sides forever. Our loss will not only be felt by his family but by so many people he touched through his working and community service life.

He was a man of strong character and integrity who lived the principles of honesty, fairness and doing the right thing.

Bill began his life in Chicago. He attended a one-room school for the first 8 years of his schooling. He valued education and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Beloit College, his J.D. from Golden Gate University, and completed an Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

His career began, after two years in the Army from 1952-1954, with Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Company in Chicago. After spending 15 years with them and transferring to California in 1959, he joined Kaiser Industries and became dhief consul of the Industrial Relations Department.

He later became the vice president of Human Resources for Kaiser Foundation Medical Care Program, from which he retired. Moving to Alta Sierra in 1991, he looked forward to a life filled with golf and new friendships.
Bill joined Alta Sierra Golf Club, was elected to the board of directors and became president of the board. He enjoyed the challenge of the game, the camaraderie of friends at the club, and especially a good game of bridge.

Bill was instrumental in founding Mediation Services of Nevada County. He was a strong advocate of mediation and arbitration instead of litigation whenever possible.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy; son, Chris; daughter-in-law, Debbie; granddaughters, Kate and Caroline; daughter, Stacey; son-in-law, Erik Read; and grandsons, Riley and Sean. He loved his family with all his heart. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, Boppa, friend and mentor.

God speed, my darling.
