Leroy Calvin Christenson Jr. lost his short battle with cancer on Aug 29, 2012, in Hilo, Hawaii, surrounded by his family as he made his journey home. He was 63.
He was born Jan.3, 1949, in Nevada City, Calif., to Leroy and Iola Christenson Sr.
He attended local schools and graduated from Nevada Union in 1967. He married Debbie Nielsen in 1968 and they began their family. He worked for Bear River Lumber and Robinson Timber.
In 1982, after visiting Hawaii on vacation, they decided to move their family to the islands. They started a business on eBay selling, trading and collecting memorabilia. They had a keen eye for rare and old items.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodcutting, yard sales and flea markets. He also loved rock and roll, especially Elvis, beautiful sunsets and those special Sunday dinners with family. Roy was our family clown and joker, as we share our memories of him we can’t help but smile, chuckle and shed a tear.
He was a great brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. We will miss him very much. If you would like to honor Roy, please take a moment and play your favorite rock and roll song and he will hear you. God bless you, Roy, until we meet again.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; son, Levi (Shannon); daughters, Ann and Connie; grandchildren, Cheyenne, George (Kiani), Shaneza, Kaila, Shasta Shari (Carey), Savannah, Tatyanna, Tsuneko, Jonathen and Levi Michael; great-grandchildren, Miyah, Emmitt-Jay, Caeson, Leeah and Braydie-Jade. He also leaves behind his brother, Jeff (Fiona); sisters, Cindy and Julie (John); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father and grandparents.
