Charles L. Pargett passed away Oct. 20, 2012, at Golden Empire Nursing Home. He was 75.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at St. Patrick’s Church, 235 Chapel St., Grass Valley, Calif. Father Sylvester Kwiatkowski will be officiating. There will be a reception immediately following at the Grass Valley Elks Lodge, 109 South School St., Grass Valley. A rosary will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at St. Patrick’s Church. A private family burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Grass Valley.
Charles was born July 12, 1937, in Oakland Calif., to Frank J Pargett and Elsie Burgard Pargett. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Alameda, Calif., in 1956. He married Patricia Leach Aug. 1, 1959, in Alameda. Charles served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War and in the Naval Reserve for eight years. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler and enjoyed swimming and camping. He continued to enjoy horseshoes, playing pool at the Elks, scrabble and crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his wife, Pat, of Grass Valley; sons Ronald Pargett (Ing) of Discovery Bay, Calif., Thomas Pargett (Tavia) of Vancouver, Wash.; Gerald Pargett (Jennifer) of Oakley, Calif.; Kevin Pargett of Rocklin, Calif.; daughter Cynthia Figueroa (Joe) of Nevada City, Calif.; grandchildren Gabrielle, Anastasia, Tayler, Shelby, Dylan, Gavin, Corey and Amy.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elsie Pargett; brother Ed Pargett; sisters Sister Mary Anne Pargett O.P., Mary Emmerling and Rita Dougherty.
