The Nevada County Building Department has completed a brochure with its policy on Senate Bill 407, water efficient plumbing fixture replacement requirements. The brochure provides information on how the department will be enforcing the requirements. Essentially, the department will only be requiring customers to replace their non-efficient plumbing fixtures if the permit that is obtained affects plumbing fixtures in the area of alteration.
Plumbing fixture upgrades will not be required for re-roofs, solar, siding, windows and all other permits where plumbing fixtures are not affected or involved in the permit. Since December, the Building Department has been working with the Nevada County Contractors’ Association to help educate the contractors, design professionals and homeowners regarding their policy and the new senate bill.
