The Nevada County Tea Party will host its first ever Boston Tea party fundraiser at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, in Ponderosa Hall at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. The menu will include Boston clam and corn “chowdas,” Boston brown bread, Boston baked beans and Boston cream pie along with barbecued Boston style tri-tip and chicken. A silent auction and raffle will take place throughout the evening and no-host adult beverages and soda will be available.
Rex Ruth will perform,“Samuel Adams Remembers” and will make table visits to answer questions. Ed Lawson will provide period patriotic and memorable music for this event, with dancing room available on the patio. A special presentation of quipped unique discoveries about the historic and revolutionary period called “Did You Know?” will be part of the evening’s entertainment. Period costumes are encouraged but not required. All costumed participants will receive a free raffle ticket.
Silent auction donations include three pieces from local bronze sculptor Bill Hald. One is entitled “Ronald Reagan as a Boy,” seated on a horse and significantly detailed. Another fine wood-turning artist, Ted Gilbert, has donated a collage of fine wood pieces, crafted into a beautiful chess/checker board, as well as some wooden toys. Supervisors Weston and Scofield have donated lunch for two with them and much, much more. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Tickets available through Nov. 14 at BriarPatch, A to Z Supply, Gold n Green, Moule Paint in Grass Valley and Penn Valley Pony Express. Tickets are limited to the first 200 purchasers.
