The ongoing partnership between the Fire Safe Council of Nevada County and the Allstate Insurance Foundation to establish Firewise Communities in Nevada County continues.
The Allstate Insurance Foundation has donated $10,000 in funding to support the council’s program to create nationally recognized Firewise Communities and to assist low-income seniors and physically disabled persons create wildfire defensible space.
“Allstate Insurance is committed to California, and we are proud to support the efforts of the Fire Safe Council of Nevada County. They are an outstanding organization and truly making a difference in our community,” said Jeff Dunning, local Allstate Insurance agent and director of the Fire Safe Council.
The Fire Safe Council of Nevada County is a nonprofit local volunteer organization dedicated to making Nevada County safer from catastrophic wildfire through fire prevention education, fire break clearing projects and creating Firewise Communities.
Nevada County now has nine certified Firewise Communities, including Lake Wildwood Association, Lake of the Pines Association, Mountain Lakes Estates Homeowners Association, Banner Mountain Homeowners Association, Tahoe-Donner Association, Greater Cement Hill Neighborhood Association, Greater Alta Sierra Firewise Community, Golden Oaks Homeowners Association and Rattlesnake Ridge Estates.
There are two more in the process of becoming nationally recognized Firewise Communities.
