This summer the library is hosting a range of free activities including programs, crafts, and storytimes that encourage and support a love of reading. Participants also can win prizes for reaching their reading goals. The 2013 Summer Reading Program is absolutely free and is open to young people of all ages.
New this year is the Teen Summer Reading Program. For every 5 books or 10 hours of reading done, teens can enter into a drawing for a chance to win a Kindle Fire HD. The Nevada County Libraries will continue their collaboration with the Nevada County Fair. Children are encouraged to decorate paper peanuts that will be displayed in the library branches during the summer and then incorporated into a display in the children¹s pavilion at the fair. The Nevada County Fair is also providing bookmarks and a voucher for two free carnival rides for each child who signs up for the summer reading program.
Sign up for the summer reading program at the Madelyn Helling Library, Grass Valley Library, Penn Valley Station, and Bear River Station. Stop in anytime during the summer for a sign-up packet.
