Community members are invited to join the Gold Country Celtic Society’s gathering today. Social hour begins at 6 p.m., followed by a potluck at 6:30. Everyone is asked to bring an appetizer, entreé, or dessert for eight to 10 people, your tableware and a beverage of your choice. Water, coffee and tea are available. After dinner there will be a program by Gary Noy, a history professor from Sierra College. He will present an illustrated lecture titled “Cousin Jacks in the Wild West: The Historical and Cultural Impact of the Cornish in Nevada County,” and will feature stories from his own Cornish heritage. Please join us — you don’t have to be Celtic! We meet at the Nevada City Veterans Building, 415 N. Pine St., in Nevada City.
