The Nevada County Division of the Retired Teachers Association will meet March 4 at the Alta Sierra Country Club. The program will feature Karen Nelson, organizer of the annual Children’s Festival, which takes place every July at Pioneer Park. CalRTA has dual purposes. Its core purpose is to protect the benefits of retired educators and provide them with the tools to achieve a secure and dignified retirement. The second purpose is to preserve and support public education and active educators. CalRTA is an advocacy group working with state and federal representatives on those issues that have an impact on either of the purposes stated above.
