The Nevada County Historical Society’s ‘Speaker Night’ presentation on Feb, 21 will feature the documentary, “Hell on the Highway,” a National Geographic film regarding the lives and hazards of being a tow truck operator on the interstate. In addition, Chaun Owens-Mortier, a research historian and president of the Truckee Donner Historical Society, will share her research via discussion and slide show. Her presentation will center on the history of the use of Donner Pass from the original route to the creation and use of I-80. This research was a basis for the historical perspective of travel hazards over Donner Pass. …
