Help stop bullying in the schools and community. Everyone knows the devastating effect bullying can have on both victims and perpetrators.
The Nevada County Superintendent of Schools and Child Advocates of Nevada County are recruiting adult volunteers to teach the evidence-based, anti-bullying curriculum “Steps To Respect” to students in fourth and fifth grade classrooms in 11 area schools.
Volunteers will be trained and equipped to teach, with a partner, a one-hour scripted lesson once a week for 10 weeks, with the classroom teacher present and participating. Current volunteers report that students are engaged and eager to learn this crucial information.
Training will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 9, 2013, at the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools office. Fingerprint/background checks and a current TB test are required and provided at no cost.
