After battling Black Friday and click-crazy Cyber Monday’s shopping madness, Nevada County’s nonprofit support agency is asking charities, businesses and individuals to embrace the idea of #GivingTuesday on Nov. 27.
The Center for Nonprofit Leadership has been educating the community about the national #GivingTuesday campaign, which started last Thanksgiving in New York City.
The one-day event has a single goal — make people more aware and active with local nonprofits.
“We want to build an even better Nevada County, and that starts with developing first-rate nonprofits and encouraging community involvement,” said Center Chairman Bill Neff in a statement. “Giving Tuesday is an excellent way to get people involved and remind them how important nonprofits are to this area.”
The Center for Nonprofit Leadership is a resource center for nonprofit organizations and individuals in Nevada County and the Sierra Nevada region of California.
Founded in 2003 to strengthen and sustain local nonprofit organizations, CNL focuses on best practice workshops, executive leadership seminars, on-site coaching and mentoring, and public advocacy. The Center is encouraging communities to get involved with their local nonprofit organizations, in ways that include donating money or volunteering, or by simply posting messages about #GivingTuesday on its website, Facebook page and Twitter account, encouraging people to visit the www.cnlsierra.org membership page where they can donate online to local membership organizations. The Center is also asking nonprofits to connect their fundraising efforts or schedule volunteer projects as part of #GivingTuesday.
Nonprofits interested in the Center and #GivingTuesday can call (530) 265-5600 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to become a member or check their membership status and ensure the listing as part of #GivingTuesday.
