Mountain Stream Meditation Center

Nevada City United Methodist Church

This week we’ll be celebrating Veteran’s Day and displaying pictures of

veteran’s who are relatives of folks in our church. They will be

displayed on the altar and Pastor Charles will deliver a relevant

message for this special day at both the 9am Traditional and 10:30am

Contemporary service. Our Sunday School will have classes during the

10:30 service. Jr. and Sr. High Youth will meet at 10am for a light

breakfast and Bible Study before joining the 10:30 worship service.

Fellowship takes place following both services. If you miss our

Pray Nevada County

We are seeking God on behalf of our communities. Open to all for Christian prayer, Pray Nevada County meets each Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. to pray for our county governments and services, schools and families, businesses and media, and churches and parachurch ministries. Since August 1997, 15 to 25 people from eight to 12 congregations have met each week to pray for our communities. In the month of November, we will be meeting at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Church Street, Grass Valley.

Grass Valley AM AGLOW

We are a local chapter of Aglow International, meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 9:45 to noon at 336 Crown Point Circle, Grass Valley. Aglow is a wonderful opportunity for unity in the Body of Christ and is not “just for women” anymore!

On the November 13 meeting, Pastors Rick & Teresa McKinney, founders of the New Hope Recovery Ranch for men and the New Hope Kimberly Lee Home for women, will be ministering in a demonstration of both love and power. If you know of a man or woman needing help from a life of addiction, please come to this meeting!

The Healing Rooms of Nevada County

We pray for healing of body and spirit. Everyone is welcome whether they attend church or not. Come to the Main Lobby of the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, 155 Glasson Way, Grass Valley on Thursdays, 7 to 8:30 p.m. There is no fee and no appointment is necessary. Nevada County Baha’is

On Sunday, November 11, local Baha’is will join with five million fellow believers worldwide to celebrate the birth of their religion’s founder, Baha’u’llah. The program will begin at 5 pm and will be followed by a potluck turkey dinner at the Platner home, 12354 Dogwood Road, Grass Valley. The public is invited to attend and may call (530) 477-7017 to RSVP or for a schedule of devotions and programs for all ages.This celebration commemorates the 1817 birth of Baha’u’llah (born Mirza Husayn-‘Ali) in Tehran, Persia (now Iran). Baha’u’llah, whose title means the “Glory of God,” announced in 1863 that he is God’s messenger for this age. His teachings and sacred writings are the basis of the Baha’i Faith. Baha’u’llah proclaimed that God, our loving creator, sends divine with teachings that enable humanity to know and to worship God. These great teachers have appeared throughout history every 500 to 1,000 years, bringing human civilization to ever higher levels of spiritual and material advancement. Baha’u’llah is the latest in this long line of divine messengers, which has included Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, Krishna, Buddha, Zoroaster and the Bab.

Hope Bearers

We are a Christian cancer support group that meets at Foothill Church. Those with serious chronic illnesses, including cancer, and their care givers are encouraged to come and share in a safe environment concerning this difficult time. The Palestine-Israel Working Group of Nevada County (PIWG)

We advocate for human rights, equality and justice for all in Palestine and Israel. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Peace Center of Nevada County, 216 B Main Street, Nevada City. PIWG sponsors the Women and Men in Black vigil Thursdays, 5:15 to 6 p.m. on the Broad Street bridge in Nevada City. We vigil to in support of the Women in Black in Israel, who founded the movement in 1988. All who support human rights and justice for all in Palestine and Israel are welcome to join the vigil. Bring a sign or use one of ours.

Brother, can you spare an ... hour?

A group of local men meets from 6 to 7 a.m. Thursdays at Penny’s Diner for breakfast. Under the banner of “Christian Business Men’s Committee,” we have breakfast, read a portion of scripture, share what God has done in our life and pray. As a welcome break between weekends, these men encourage each other as they wish to encourage you in these trying times.
