Yard sale to benefit charter school

Yard sale to benefit charter school

The Sierra Montessori Academy will host its annual Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The sale raises funds for the nonprofit charter school, located at 16629 Duggans Road in south Nevada County.

The school is currently accepting donations. Receipts can be given for items donated and purchases made the day of the sale. For more information, call (530) 268-9990.

Freelance writers wanted

The Union is looking for freelance writers to assist with coverage of features stories and sports. Interested writers should email questions or a resume and writing samples to Features Editor Brett Bentley at bbentley@theunion.com.

NU students participate in forestry challenge

Six students from Nevada Union High School participated recently in the 2012 Shasta Forestry Challenge, one group of a total of 67 high school students from 11 schools from Northern California and Oregon.

The event was Sept. 26 to 29 at Lassen Pines Camp at Viola, east of Shingletown. The top Nevada Union teams won fourth place out of a field of 19 teams.
