Nevada Union football players make a difference

On Sunday, Aug. 24, 10 members of the Nevada Union Football team along with two coaches helped Sierra Presbyterian Church (SPC) set up their 34th Annual Community Yard Sale. Dressed in their jerseys, the players enthusiastically assembled more than 30 canopies and 50 tables from storage.

The church has a long history and tradition of having large yard sales on Labor Day weekend to aid various organizations in the community as well as to support ministries of the church, including Sonshine Preschool. The largest share of this year’s sale proceeds will go to 10 local organizations: Anew Day, Christian Encounter Ministries, Emergency Coalition, Hospitality House, Interfaith Food Ministry, KARE Crisis Nursery, LivingWell Medical Clinic, Sierra Ministries International, Wolf Mountain and Woman of Worth. Leftover donations were picked up by Hospice, Habitat for Humanity (Restore), and delivered to Living Well Medical Clinic Thrift Store.
