School of Care trains for a career with meaning and a future

Are you seeking a meaningful career that is people centered and always in demand? Consider becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant, an integral part of a medical team. Becoming a CNA may be a great career choice not only because it can be extremely rewarding, but also because it’s an area with many job opportunities. CNA’s may be needed in hospitals, doctors’ offices, and other health care facilities. They often have direct contact with patients, helping them bathe, eat or dress. In some facilities, the CNA might be responsible for taking patients’ pulse, temperature and blood pressure.

This field is projected to grow significantly nationwide but most particularly in Nevada County, which is predicted to have a 71 percent 60 and over population by the year 2020. Becoming a CNA also provides valuable experience as a stepping stone toward advanced health careers such as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or a Registered Nurse.

To become a CNA you must first attend a training program and receive instruction in this field. The School of Care is offering its second Nurse Assistant Training (CNA preparation course) right here in Grass Valley! After a wonderful inaugural class which graduated last April, we are now enrolling for our next class. This fall’s training offers an 11 week program, which has been expanded to include more time for skills practice and exam preparation. School of Care combines educational and skills excellence while modeling a caring relational approach. School of Care has won praises from nursing facilities as well as its students.

A free preparatory Information Night, necessary for enrollment, will be at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at One Stop Career Center, 715 Maltman, Grass Valley.

For more information and to download an application, visit or call 530-278-5015, or write to: School of Care, P.O. Box 633, Grass Valley, CA 95945.
