A free electronic waste fundraiser will allow donors to drive through and drop off items without getting out of their cars. Scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on August 23, proceeds will benefit Chicago Park School and the Chicago Park 4-H Club.
The drop off site will be at Chicago Park School, 15725 Mt. Olive Road in Grass Valley. The event is sponsored by California Electronic Asset Recovery, or CEAR, Inc., a state approved electronic waste collector and recycler.
Items accepted include monitors, televisions, desktop and notebook PCs, VCRs, stereo equipment, speakers, keyboards, mice, PDAs, digital cameras, zip drives, telephones, cell phones, printers, copiers, laser and multifunction scanners and fax machines, small household appliances such as toasters, mixers and blenders, microwaves,vacuum cleaners with the dust bag removed.
Items not accepted are large household appliances (such as refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc.), furniture, hazardous household waste — including batteries, car batteries, paint, pesticides, used oil, cleaning supplies, fluorescent light bulbs, wooden speakers and tires.
