A Disaster Preparedness Fair is scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. on April 12 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 287 Poet Smith Drive in Auburn.
The fair is free and open to the public. Those interested in becoming more prepared to deal with a disaster are encouraged to attend.
There will be booths, displays, demonstrations and handouts, as well as crucial survival skills shared by experts in the following areas:
— Fire prevention / earthquake preparation/ disaster sanitation
— Ham radio and communications
— Solar oven and alternative cooking tips
— Generators and fuels (use and storage), alternate power/PG&E
— Triage and emergency medicine
— Food, including cooking, Dutch ovens, grinding, canning, drying, pickling, preservation and storage
— Water: Purification, filtration and storage
— Heating and lighting; solar
— 72-hour emergency kits
— Gardening, backyard orchards, sewing and more
