Scouts honored for park projects

Zachary Kysar and John Alkire of Nevada City Boy Scout Troop 24 were recently honored for their Eagle Scout projects at Pioneer Park in Nevada City. Kysar was responsible for the construction and installation of eight benches around Pioneer Park Pool. Alkire built the Pioneer Park Amphitheater at the park grounds that now seats 45 people on nine benches and can be reserved for events. The Amphitheater was dedicated to Verne Taylor, who has assisted with numerous community projects, including these two. In addition to the two Eagle Scouts assisting each other, additional volunteers included Nathan Godwin, Henry Alkire, Timothy Martinez, Tucker Martinez and Ryan Stubbs, The projects were funded by the Nevada City Soapbox Derby.
