The live broadcast starring Kenneth Branagh in "The Entertainer" will be shown at 7:15 p.m. today at the Del Oro Theatre in Grass Valley.

In the spirit of the Metropolitan Opera Live, National Theatre Live and other live broadcasts, Kenneth Branagh has launched his own season of cinema broadcasts from The Garrick Theatre in London this year. The first season of the “Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company Live” began in February with Judi Dench in “The Winter’s Tale.” The season concludes with Branagh starring in John Osborne’s “The Entertainer.” The play will show once only at 7:15 p.m. today at the Del Oro Theatre in Grass Valley.

Set against the backdrop of post-war Britain, John Osborne’s modern classic conjures the seedy glamour of the old music halls for an explosive examination of public masks and private torment. Rob Ashford directs Branagh as the unforgettable Archie Rice. With an impressive cast, including Sophie McShera (beloved as Daisy in Downton Abbey), this four-star production will be the final presentation of the Branagh Theatre Company’s 2016 Season at the Garrick.

Tickets for “The Entertainer” are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors, students and children 12 and under. Advance tickets are available now at the Del Oro Box Office or online at http://www.sierratheaters.com/live. The Del Oro Theatre is located at 165 Mill St. in Downtown Grass Valley.
