Daughters of the American Revolution announces American history essay winners

Captain John Oldham, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, recently honored two young women, their families and their teachers for their winning entries into the American History Essay Contest. Both Lily Analise Neiser, left, and Gianna Nicole Rose, who are home schooled and sponsored by Forest Charter School, won the chapter's first place award for their grade levels and went on to win the district's award beating out nine other chapters' winners. They each received certificates, medals and monetary awards. The audience was captivated when these students read their winning essays. The topic was, "Celebrating a Century: America's National Parks." Both chose California's Redwood National Park for their essays.
