Auburn’s Silver Screen Classic Movie Series to show, ‘Libeled Lady’

Silver Screen Classic Movie Series continues on April 1 with "Libeled Lady," from 1936. In the film, newspaper editor Spencer Tracy ignores his impatient fiancé Jean Harlow, as he's busy fending off Myrna Loy's libel suit. His buddy William Powell agrees to lure Loy into a compromising position so she'll drop the suit. Simple? Sure. Except he falls in love. Screenings of "Libeled Lady" will be at noon, 4 and 7:30 p.m. on April 1 in the Beecher Room of the Auburn Library, 350 Nevada St. in Auburn. Presented by the library, the movie is free.
