AnimalSave adopts Grass Valley City Hall

On April 7, AnimalSave volunteers spent seven hours weeding, pruning, raking, and sweeping at Grass Valley City Hall. The weather was mild, the work pleasant, and the results were gratifying (never mind the aching backs). By the end of the day, they had filled more than 50 bags with 'green waste.'

AnimalSave is a nonprofit organization located in Grass Valley that "… transforms the lives of cats and dogs by providing humane education, affordable spay and neuter services, and by finding loving homes." Volunteers give many hours caring for homeless animals waiting to be adopted from AnimalSave.

Now, AnimalSave has "adopted" the landscape at Grass Valley's City Hall, under the City's "Adopt-a-Park/Trail/Median Program." Take a drive by City Hall at 125 East Main St. and admire the spruced up grounds, or park in the lot at the corner of East Main and South Auburn streets and enjoy a walk around town.

Check out AnimalSave Thrift & Treasures benefit store at 520 E. Main St. in Grass Valley and be sure to visit the Cat Adoption Room upstairs, where you can give the kitties some hands-on affection. (Dogs are cared for in foster homes, until their new families come along.)

Thrift store's hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations are accepted – and much appreciated – Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
