Mount St. Mary's Choraleers put on Broadway show

Mount St. Mary’s Choraleers put on a Broadway show Sunday with two separate performances at St. Joseph’s Cultural Center in Grass Valley.

The Choraleers are a dedicated group of students that ranges from fourth-graders through eighth-graders.

The 28 students arrive for practice by 6:45 a.m. on a school morning to sing for an hour and 15 minutes once a week.

When they have a show, practice is twice a week in the morning with four to five long rehearsals.

Approximately 400 tickets were sold for the “Choraleers on Broadway” shows Sunday with the money raised benefiting the school.

The Choraleers are taught by Colleen Deneen.

The students performed classic show tunes, including “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “My Favorite Thing,” “If I Were A Rich Man,” “O What A Beautiful Mornin’,” “Can You Feel The Love Tonight,” “Impossible Dream” and “Regards to Broadway.”

The Choraleers will put on three shows for the community this Christmas, as well as a spring program.
