Tuesday is the night to hone your culinary skills with local experts, all the while enjoying a taste of local wine, beer and food, as The Union’s “Flavor of Nevada County - A Cooking School” event takes stage 5-9 p.m. at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.
Pick and choose cooking sessions that draw your interest, including “How to make ricotta cheese at home” (Steve Rosenthal, Tess’ Kitchen Store); “Decadent and easy chocolate mousse” (Amy Cooke of Summer Thyme’s); “Olive oils and balsamic vinegars” (Jeanette Angell, Olive Vitality); “Wine and food pairing” (Rod Byers, wine writer and educator); “Make sushi at home” (Laura Thorne, Way Yum Sushi); and “Make perfect martinis” (Dino Garcia, Kane’s Restaurant).
Entertainment will also be provided by participants of the Nevada County’s “Dancing With Our Stars,” hosted by the Center for the Arts in August.
Tickets are $20 in advance (available at The Union, 464 Sutton Way, or at TheUnion.com/Flavor), and $25 at the door. The first 300 attendees will receive a free souvenir wine glass sponsored by Victoria’s Sweet Elegance. Call 530-477-4241 for information.
